Do I have to sell ads?
No. Most customers stay on Starter and never sell a slot. NowBoard is a digital signage platform first — the advertising tools are there if and when you want them, switched off by default.
How is this different from Yodeck or ScreenCloud?
Two things. First, billing: we charge per Location, not per screen. A Location is one place showing one playlist — so if you have five screens in the same room all running the same loop, that’s still one Location and one monthly charge. You only pay more if different screens are showing genuinely different content. Second, we have built-in advertising tools with Stripe payouts, so your screens can generate ad revenue if you choose to. Neither Yodeck nor ScreenCloud offer that.
Is there a contract?
No contract. Monthly billing, cancel any time from your dashboard. Annual billing is available at a discount (12 months for the price of 10) if you want it, but it's optional.
What if I only have one screen?
Free covers it forever. One Location, unlimited screens within it, all Board types. The only difference on Free is a small NowBoard footer on screen and a slightly higher commission if you do choose to sell ads later.
When do I get paid for ads?
Through Stripe Connect, automatically. Once your Stripe payout account is set up, your share of every ad sold lands on your weekly or monthly payout schedule. You don't invoice anyone.
