Gym digital signage — show today's classes on every screen

Stop members guessing what's on. Display your class timetable on the lobby TV, update it from your phone when something changes, and let everyone see what's happening now and next. No printing. No whiteboard. No "just ask at reception."

The problem

Your class timetable is everywhere — except where members can actually see it

A paper timetable on the noticeboard. A PDF buried three clicks deep on your website. A screenshot someone shared in the WhatsApp group six weeks ago that nobody's updated since. And the class that got cancelled last Thursday? Half your members still turned up because nobody told them in time.

Gym digital signage exists to solve exactly this. One screen in the lobby showing today's classes, the instructor, and the room — live, accurate, and updated the moment anything changes. Members walk in knowing what's on. They stop asking the same questions at the front desk. And when you swap a class or cover an instructor last minute, the screen updates before the next person walks through the door.

That is the only real promise gym digital signage needs to keep. NowBoard keeps it.

Why it matters

What poor class visibility actually costs your gym

📋

Paper timetables nobody reads

A printed timetable on a noticeboard is out of date the moment it goes up. Members glance at it once and stop trusting it. So they ask instead.

🔄

Last-minute changes cause chaos

An instructor calls in sick. You change the room. You add an extra class. With paper, there is no way to get that information to members before they arrive.

💬

Reception answers the same questions on repeat

"What time is spin?" "Is there yoga today?" "Who's taking the 6pm class?" Every answer takes time your front desk team could spend elsewhere.

📉

Low class attendance from poor visibility

Members who don't know what's on don't book. They wander in, find nothing that suits, and leave. A timetable on a screen turns browsers into bookers.

Use cases

Five ways gyms and fitness studios use NowBoard every day

Class timetable display

Show today's full schedule on the lobby TV from the moment you open

The Class Schedule Board is the main event. It shows every class on today's timetable — name, time, instructor, room or studio, and spaces remaining if you want to add that. Members walk in, look at the screen, and know exactly what's on. No asking. No searching their phone. For gyms with multiple studios or rooms, the timetable shows which class is where so members head in the right direction without stopping to check.

A gym in Sheffield runs eight classes before noon on Saturdays. The lobby screen shows all eight in chronological order. Members arrive, see the schedule, and head straight to their studio. The manager updates the screen from her phone when the 10am spin class moves to the larger studio — thirty seconds, done.

Now & Next display

The one-glance answer to "what's on now and what's coming up?"

The Now & Next Board shows two things: the class currently in progress and the class starting next. Clean, large, readable from across the reception area. This is the screen that members glance at when they arrive for a walk-in — "yoga started 20 minutes ago, but HIIT is in 15 minutes" — and it shapes decisions without anyone having to find the full timetable. Particularly useful for gyms where members drop in without a fixed plan.

A boutique fitness studio places a tablet showing the Now & Next Board at the entrance. Walk-in members decide whether to wait for the next class based on what they see. Class utilisation on previously quiet slots has increased because people can actually see what they're walking into.

Last-minute class changes

When an instructor cancels, the screen updates before your members arrive

Instructor off sick at 7am. You have three classes starting before 10am. With NowBoard, you update the timetable from your phone — swap the instructor, mark a class as cancelled, or add a cover class — and the screens across your gym reflect that change immediately. No printed notice. No scribble on a whiteboard. No hoping the front desk remembers to tell people as they arrive.

A gym manager covers two sites and gets an instructor cancellation at 6:45am. She updates the class status from her phone while making coffee. Both sites' lobby screens update before the first member arrives at either location. Nobody turns up to an empty studio.

Welcome & information screens

Everything a new or visiting member needs to know on one screen

The Welcome Board handles the general information that every gym displays somewhere — wifi password, locker room location, class booking reminder, personal training enquiry, opening hours for the weekend, upcoming gym events like charity workouts or member challenges. These change throughout the year, and NowBoard makes updating them a two-minute job rather than a print-and-laminate project.

Multi-location group management

Running two or three sites? One account manages every screen across all of them

NowBoard's multi-site structure means gym groups can manage screens at every location from a single account. Each site has its own content — its own class schedule, its own welcome board — but group-wide announcements push to every screen at once. Promote a new class across all three sites with one update. Keep timetables local so the Manchester screen doesn't show Leeds classes.

How it works

Get your first gym screen live in under 15 minutes

  1. Plug in a NowBoard Player

A small device — about the size of a phone charger — connects to any TV via HDMI and uses your gym's wifi. The player costs around £139 and works on any screen you already have.

  2. Choose your Board and add your classes

Pick the Class Schedule Board, the Now & Next Board, or the Welcome Board. Add your class names, times, instructors, and room details. Add your gym's logo and brand colours.

  3. Your screens update the moment you do

Change an instructor, add a class, cancel a session. Every connected screen refreshes automatically — no USB sticks, no walking around the building, no waiting for a reboot.

Why NowBoard

Why gyms choose NowBoard over other digital signage options

Built for schedules, not slideshows

Most digital signage tools are designed for looping video or promotional content. NowBoard is built for showing what's on, when, and who's running it — exactly what gyms need.

Update from your phone

Your front desk, your gym manager, or you — anyone you give access to can update the class schedule from their phone. No laptop required. No IT department.

Works on screens you already have

Any TV with an HDMI port becomes a digital signage screen. Start with the lobby TV. Add the changing room corridor. Add a second site. Each screen is one Location at £10/month.

Offline resilience

If your gym wifi is unreliable, NowBoard keeps displaying the last update. When the connection returns, screens sync automatically. Members never see a blank screen.

Pricing that makes sense for gyms

£10 per Location per month. One screen in the lobby = one location. Two screens in different areas of the same building = one location. Scale up as you add sites.

Rotate multiple Boards

Set up a playlist that cycles through your class schedule, your welcome information, and any promotions or member challenges. One screen, multiple Boards, rotating automatically.

FAQ

Common questions about gym digital signage

Do I need special screens or hardware?

No. NowBoard works on any TV or monitor with an HDMI port. The only hardware you need is a NowBoard Player — a small device that costs around £139. Plug it into your existing lobby TV and you are ready.

Can my class timetable update automatically from my booking system?

NowBoard does not currently pull directly from booking systems like Mindbody or Gymdesk — class schedules are entered directly into NowBoard. For most gyms, the class schedule stays fairly consistent week to week and individual changes (instructor swap, cancellation) take under a minute to update. Calendar sync is on our roadmap.

How much does gym digital signage cost with NowBoard?

From £10 per Location per month. One location covers a single physical site — so a gym with one lobby screen, one corridor screen, and one changing room screen at the same building pays £10/month for all of them. A second site is a second location at £10/month.

Can different staff members update the class schedule?

Yes. You control who has access to what. Your front desk team can update the class schedule. Your gym manager can update the welcome board. You keep oversight of everything without anyone breaking anything.

Can I show more than just the class schedule?

Yes. NowBoard lets you rotate multiple Boards on a single screen. Show the class schedule for two minutes, then the Now & Next board, then any announcements, promotions or member challenges. You control the sequence and timing.

Is there a minimum contract?

No. NowBoard is month-to-month. Start your free 14-day trial with no credit card, and if you decide it is right for your gym, pay monthly. Cancel any time.

Put your class timetable where members can actually see it

Your lobby TV is already there. Your classes are already running. All you are missing is the screen showing members what's on. That's what NowBoard does — and you can have it running today.
